Calling a tow truck does not have to be a significant issue, and for many of our first-time clients, they are not prepared to call a tow truck. No matter if you have broken down or dealing with an accident, your call will always be answered by one of our expert dispatchers. So, what do you need to know when you are about to call a tow truck?
This might seem simple, but you would be surprised at how many people do not realise they are going to have to chat about where you are. First, check your phone and see if you can spot yourself on Google Maps or Apple Maps. Even if you do not have a data connection, the maps app will generally track where you are going. If you do not have that, look for the nearest mile marker on the highway, or a store nearby. Any identifying mark will help us locate you!
Your vehicle’s issue
When it comes to issues that you are dealing with your car, we need to know everything that you do. If you are dealing with engine problems, do you have any idea what happened, or any sounds or things that you saw during the breakdown? If you are dealing with a tire blowout, do you know the location of the tire or the size of the tire? Do you have a backup tire in your trunk, or will you need a replacement that can handle highway speeds? This might seem strange, but we want to be in a position to help you get back on the road again, and the more information we have, the better prepared we will be when one of our trucks arrive on the scene.
Your contact information
This is extremely important; we need your contact information on file in case we need to get a hold of you. This will be passed onto the truck driver who can coordinate his location, and let you know if there is a delay as well as the expected time of arrival. This will help as we will also be able to give you a call back if there is some extra paperwork that is needed, or we need to give you a call-in case there is an issue.
Your make and model
Finally, this might seem silly, but we need to know what kind of car or truck we are looking for. This is especially important as we need to determine if we need a light tow truck or a medium tow truck and will be able to locate you when we arrive near the scene. We will need the make, the model and the color. Thus, the perfect answer for this question would be a red Mazda 3 or a Blue Ford F-150. Keep it simple.
When it comes to calling a tow truck, do not overthink. Our dispatchers will walk you through the process and answer the questions you can. We are here for you, and no matter what happened, our tow trucks can help you and your vehicle out and get you back on the road in no time!
